Frequently Asked Questions

EN 50618 or IS 17293 — which should I specify?
IS 17293:2020 is the Indian photovoltaic cable standard, while EN 50618 is the European standard associated with H1Z2Z2-K photovoltaic cables. The required standard should be selected according to the project specification, applicable certification and market requirements.
Why is the conductor tinned?
Tinning provides additional corrosion protection to the copper conductor and is particularly useful for long-term outdoor photovoltaic installations.
Can PVC-insulated cable be used on the DC side?
The photovoltaic DC cable specification is designed around continuous elevated conductor temperature, UV exposure, outdoor weathering and the required halogen-free properties. Therefore the cable selected for the PV DC side should meet the applicable photovoltaic cable standard.
What does the 120 °C rating mean?
120 °C is the specified overload conductor temperature. The continuous conductor operating temperature is 90 °C, with the 120 °C condition permitted for the specified cumulative operating duration.
How do I derate for Rajasthan summer ambient?
Apply the correction factor for the design ambient to the IS 17293 ratings, then the grouping factor for the tray arrangement. Both tables are in section 07. For ambients above 70 °C, contact our technical team — the published factor table stops there.
What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?
Standard sizes are stocked in common colours; non-standard lengths, colours and drum sizes are made to order. Send the size, length and delivery location through the enquiry form below and our solar desk will confirm quantity and lead time.

Need help selecting the right cable?

Send the size, run length and quantity and our solar desk will come back with a quote and a string sizing check.
